Funding
In addition to a structural contribution from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), the Netherlands Brain Bank (NBB) receives funding from patient associations, donations, and contributions requested from researchers receiving tissue. The work of the NBB would not be possible without the support of various foundations, patient organizations, and the committed involvement of private individuals. The NBB operates on a not-for-profit basis.

Since January 2008, the foundation has been an “Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling” (Institution for General Benefit) by the Dutch Tax Authority. The assets of this Foundation are made up of donations, testamentary dispositions and legacies (Dutch Chamber of Commerce; registration no. 41205869).
