Future services

The NBB will continue its mission to promote brain research into psychiatric disorders and facilitate this by disseminating tissue and data. We are constantly developing to provide better access to more data.

• Donor registration: Although the NBB-Psy national donor campaign finished in 2017 we welcome the registration of donors with psychiatric disorders. We still work together with researchers and clinicians to bring brain donation to the attention of their patients.
   
• Netherlands Neurogenetics Database (NND) project: We standardise the clinical and neuropathological information and add genotype structure and polygenic risk scores for about 2800 donors, including those with psychiatric disorders. This will give more insight in the genetic susceptibility for certain traits and disorders and the disease trajectories in these groups of patients.
   
• Tailored collection of tissue and downstream products: We continue to use and optimise our protocols both to enrich our collection (e.g. cell isolation for single cell expression profiling) and in order to tailor dissection of brain regions to the request of the researcher.
